Novel synthesis of metal complexes of palmitoyl thioureas and their antimicrobial activities
Abstract
Novel Ni(II) and Cu(II) complexes of N-(diethylamin-4-ylcarbonothioyl)palmitamide [HL1] and N-(morpholin-4-ylcarbonothioyl)palmitamide [HL2] have been synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, FT-IR, UV-VIS, 1H NMR and mass spectroscopy. Ni(II) and Cu(II)  complexes were isolated as four coordinated ML2 and six coordinated ML2(H2O)2 molecules respectively. The ligands coordinated as monoanions after deprotonation. In vitro screening of HL1, HL2 and their metal complexes against some bacteria and yeasts revealed that the complexes showed better antimicrobial property than the organic molecules. Keywords: Palmitoyl thioureas, synthesis, metal complexes, antimicrobial studies ÂDownloads
