Abstract

In many parts of West Africa, there is generally an inadequate supply of foods that are rich in nutrients needed by the human body for health and productive life. The purpose of this study is to assess the nutritional content of fruit juices distributed in Sabon Gari, Zaria market; the pH level, sodium chloride equivalent (Salt content), acid content, the total dissolved solids and the electrical conductivity of ten (10) different samples of fruit juices from different companies were found to be adequate in all samples analyzed. Most importantly, these fruit juices were found to contain ascorbic acid (vitamin C) which is a very important antioxidant. Increased productivity, marketing and consumption of healthy fruits and fruits juices was recommended.
